About Us

Phi Sigma Chi Multicultural Fraternity was founded at City Tech College in Brooklyn, NY on November 16, 1996. Phi Sigma Chi is a multicultural fraternity created by Founding Fathers Heraldo Gabriel, Carlos Lopez, Archer Hutchinson, Steven Lee, Noah Rodriguez, and Marvin Simon; six men who sought to establish an organization built on diversity and uniqueness.

Phi Sigma Chi has stood the test of time and proves to be City Tech’s most successful fraternity. This is because Phi is unlike any other fraternity.

Phi Sigma Chi Multicultural Fraternity is a coalition of students and professionals dedicated to bettering the state of our communities through political pressure, educational projects and direct volunteering. Phi Sigma Chi was founded by students who sought to establish an organization that would build tomorrow’s leaders. The fraternity’s philosophy is that a strong group must be comprised of strong individuals, and therefore concentrates on the development of the individual and his place in our community.

Phi Sigma Chi emphasizes community service and leadership development. This is done through participation in the fraternity’s community service projects; Multicultural Awareness, the 363 Campaign, Network for Success, and the Beautiphication Project. These projects allow members to not only give back to our community, but to help shape its development. The brothers of Phi Sigma Chi learn and teach vital skills that give them an edge in the real world, such as public speaking, community organizing, press and media relations, time management, meeting procedures, fundraising, public relations, and much more.

Phi Sigma Chi strongly believes in the importance of multicultural awareness. The fraternity applauds other fraternities and sororities which were founded with the intent to strengthen racial and religious groups. But while it is important to concentrate on the upliftment of your people, Phi believes it is equally important to further the union of all people while celebrating our diversity.

Leadership development is at the top of the fraternity’s goals. Through the Network for Success project the fraternity teaches young leaders the skills necessary to make their mark in the workforce. The project stresses the importance of project assessment and development, public speaking, networking, developing a proper resume, and more through a series of workshops.

Phi Sigma Chi’s 363 Campaign is an attempt to bring to light the fact that the homeless and needy are still in need of our help the other 363 days of the year besides Thanksgiving and Christmas. As concerned individuals we have the power to make a difference on a daily basis. The fraternity creates a series of events to assist those in need throughout the year.

The Beautiphication Project is Phi’s community development project. The goal is to transform community members’ outlook on life partially by changing the outlook on their communities. Through this program the brothers volunteer time to renovate parks, playgrounds, community gardens, and more. This summer Phi is planting community gardens and renovating community areas throughout New York City.

Your personal vision is why you do what you do. It shows you where you want to go. Pay attention to your vision and goals. One of Phi Sigma Chi’s goals is to transform concern to action. Instead of complaining about society’s problems or waiting for someone to fix them the brothers of Phi Sigma Chi choose to do something about them. This is why Phi Sigma Chi exists. But the fraternity cannot maintain sustainability without strong, focused individual members. If you are interested in being the change you seek, join Phi Sigma Chi now.

Phi Sigma Chi is more than just a fraternity. It’s more than a brotherhood. Phi Sigma Chi is a movement.
