About Lafayette College

Lafayette College, nestled in the picturesque town of Easton, Pennsylvania, stands as a beacon of academic excellence and historical significance. Founded in 1826 by citizens of Easton and the local Presbyterian Church, Lafayette has since evolved into a prestigious liberal arts college renowned for its rigorous academic programs and vibrant campus life. Situated on a stunning 340-acre campus along the banks of the Delaware River, Lafayette offers students a perfect blend of natural beauty and modern amenities. The campus features a mix of historic buildings dating back to the college’s founding, along with state-of-the-art facilities designed to foster innovation and collaboration.

At the heart of Lafayette’s educational philosophy is its commitment to providing a comprehensive liberal arts education that prepares students for success in a rapidly changing world. The college offers more than 50 majors and minors across a wide range of disciplines, including the arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. Through small class sizes and close interaction with dedicated faculty members, students are challenged to think critically, communicate effectively, and engage with complex issues from multiple perspectives. Beyond the classroom, Lafayette offers a rich array of extracurricular activities, including over 250 clubs and organizations, NCAA Division I athletics, and numerous opportunities for community service and civic engagement. The college’s vibrant campus culture fosters a strong sense of community and belonging, where students are encouraged to explore their passions, develop leadership skills, and forge lifelong friendships.

Lafayette’s historic ties to the American Revolution and its role in shaping the nation’s history are palpable throughout the campus. From its namesake, the Marquis de Lafayette, a key figure in the Revolutionary War and a close friend of George Washington, to its proximity to important Revolutionary War sites such as Washington Crossing and Valley Forge, the college offers students a unique opportunity to connect with the past while preparing for the future.
